Hemangioma

Have you ever heard of a hemangioma? It is a benign tumor. It can be found anywhere on the body, but it usually located around the head - mouth, eyes, face, lips, nose. Emelia was born with a hemangioma on her lower, inner lip. I noticed it and during her 2 month well check-up, I thought that maybe she had scratched herself with her fingers since she likes to eat her fingers all the time. The pediatrician explained that it was a hemangioma and we would keep a close watch on it.



At her 4 month check-up, it had doubled in size. She would suck on it and play with it in her mouth. We were referred to an ENT. He said that it would just continue to grow and grow and could effect her eating and speech, so he suggested we have it removed. We had outpatient surgery on March 13th to have it removed. She has recovered well, and we are so thankful to God that she is doing so much better!
