Round and Round

We went to the State Fair just a few weeks ago.  It was a lot of fun.  Jerry was off work, so I decided to take a half day off work too.  We loaded up the girls and off we went. 

 When we went to the Greek Festival, Emma Kate loved riding all the rides, so we thought that this would be the perfect place for her to get her chance.  When we got there, though, she said she was too tired to ride the rides (we had just picked her up from preschool).  She did like taking a look at all the rides though!  We got to walk around and see all the animals.  Emelia just loved watching the ducks slide down the slide.

 We have this rocket at our fair and when I was a little girl, my mom would always tell me to go to the rocket if we got separated.  They actually call the person you are looking for over the loud speaker, "Jennifer, meet your mother at the rocket."  It's quite hilarious.  We showed the girls the rocket, but we kept them so close to us, that we weren't worried about getting separated.  We came across a game with ducks and Emelia kept pointing at it.  We walked over and let each girl pick a duck out of the moving water.  It was so sweet and each girl got a prize!

We walked through some of the buildings and got to look at the cakes that some ladies had baked and entered and saw how the freezer magic cups worked.  We had some Fiske Fries, Pronto Pup corn dogs, and then decided to take a break and stop for some fried mushrooms.  No wonder I keep gaining weight, ha!  As we rested, we got to watch this really neat pirate show with cats that would climb up rope on command and then there were dogs that did cute tricks.  There were even mice that were trained!  We had a great time.

  Emma Kate kept asking what time it was because she knew at 3pm, there was a pig race, so at 2:30, we headed over to wait for the race.  We were pretty much the first ones there to wait, so we got front row seats!  Emma Kate was SO excited!  It's definitely her favorite part of the fair.

 Emelia was not exactly excited about the 30 minute wait.  At this point, she was getting antsy.  She wanted to get out of my arms and wanted to walk around.  I tried to let her down a bit, but she was nervous about walking on the concrete.  She kept pointing at the chair lift and wanted to ride.  At this point, we only had 15 minutes left to wait, so I just kept trying to entertain her.

 Even big sister tried to entertain her baby sister so she could happily wait for the pigs!

 We had a fabulous time!  We pretty much ate ourselves silly, looked at all the animals, enjoyed family time and were exhausted.  We headed back home to take our afternoon naps.  What a great day!!
